The web is constantly changing, becoming more flexible and always growing... These changes affect users' profiles in the sense that they have to be ready and quick to adapt in order to be able to use, enjoy and profit from all its tools.
I think I'm something in between a native and an immigrant web user, probably a bit more of a native, but still trying to aquire it :-)... I think it's never ending!
To my surprise, many of my students are not so native web users as I expected, so I sometimes find it difficult to make them use some new tools or gadgets I try to introduce in our lessons.

Cecilia, thanks for your contribution. I agree there are very young students who are not used to technology because of different reasons: no computer at home, lack of Internet access, they do not like computers...
A survey is always advisable before implementing ICT in class.

The Web 2.0 is fascinating, yet daunting. The beginnings of Web 3.0 frighten me a bit. How far will we be able to tell virtual from real? What about alienation?

Having said that, I must agree with Cecilia that often our students have quite limited knowledge of the potentialities of the resources available, even when they have access at home. For the younger ones, all there is to the Internet is Flogger, IM, and maybe email.

Is that your experience, too?

I agree with Cecilia that the web is changing constantly and trying to keep up to date with everything is overwhelming sometimes but at the same time enjoyable.
I also think that I'm in between a native and an immigrant. According to age I'm a complete immigrant but the computer has become my third and fourth hand although I have to acquire some new tools, too.
What is quite difficult, though, is to include ICT in class as, I agree with you, Susana, some Ss may not be very interested in computers, don't have one at home or lack of knowledge of all the resources available in the web.

We should pay attention to the development of the web. Suddenly we may find our students are talking about something we have no idea about.
I always think of “songs in the classroom”. I have always made an effort to ask my students what songs they liked to listen to them in class, enjoy them and work on them. The same happens with the Internet resources. Our students love some “social resources” which we should start considering for our classes.
In-world simulation is next (our students love net-gaming!), also using mobiles, mobile Internet is becoming very popular soon.
What resources should be used in class when there are different students profiles?

The web is fascinating...and overwhelming. I´m a 36-year-old web immigrant who enjoys and profits from the web but who some other times feels frustated given the constant changes. I´d love to use new tools and gadgets with my students but we´re so busy getting ready for CAE and BEC...it´s a pity. As I said somewhere else, I feel my teaching practice will cahnge after the Remote Seminar. Thank you.
